Hi, I'm Arkhon of the blog http://arkhon-deathblackmetal.blogspot.com/ and first of all, congratulations on the new material, I really was delighted. How has the reception been regarding this work? How have things gone in the band since the release of this new material?

  • Khaoth - Thank you! And nice to meet you, Arkhon! Reviews are quite well in the whole and it motivates us to start to work on full length now, which is basically about the things in the band recently.

I have to confess that I have known Khors a few years ago and my favorite material is Return to Abandoned although the other material does not deserve much, I like that material because of the overproduction that it entailed and the great leap that they gave in their style. As a retrospective, how much has the band changed over the years? What experiences or experiences have you had to have this evolution? And by the way, what does Beyond the Bestial mean to you both personally and in general?

  • Khaoth -  “Return To Abandoned” seems to became our classic album since many people admit that they opened the band from this. Well, I guess this is about our normal evolution as musicians that met it's critical point at that moment. Together with the experience we obtained with “Mysticism” record, with the line-up changes, with the aspiration to make it better – that all met in one life span and a result was that you can hear on “Return To Abandoned”, which I personally consider the best KHORS' record so far. As for “Beyond the Bestial” - well, this is vector that can give you an understanding of what you can expect from us in future, as well as a platform for some experiments that we unlikely would try with the full length. I estimate the result as good one and we must make it to be a half of that we should receive with our new record.

Since we talked about Beyond the Bestial, how was the compositional method? From when and in what places was recorded?

  • Khaoth -  We started to work on new songs from this Spring so it's been pretty fast from composing of new songs till release date. As for the method, it's quite different. From many works on one particular song to one jam session only to make it complete. As always.

The inclusion of clean voices has been a pleasant surprise on my part since it allows to hear a calmer perspective of the compositions. Tell me, will we have more elements like this in some future? What plans do you have for the short and medium term? Any tour that includes Latin America?

  • Khaoth -  We definitely will keep trying with clean vocals. This is about our short term plans :) And yes, would be very nice to visit Latin America with a tour so we should find promoters to be interested which is very complicated thing to do.

I was born in Mexico and Khors is still a pretty Underground band, if you had to explain to someone who does not know your project. How would you describe Khors to someone who has not yet had the experience of knowing them? And how would you describe the sound of Beyond the Bestial?

  • Khaoth -  Something that I hate to do and always trying to avoid it. Well, if we would have no internet or limited access, or metal music would not be so rich with genres, subgenres, sub subgenres, rapidly changing trends – in other words just imagine we are in the mid 90's – then I would probably try to pick some figures to describe our style and sound. I also never do it for people who's not familiar with metal genres – this case I only say that we play metal. It doesn't make sense to spend many time for describing it when one can easily click a couple of links and go to listen anything.

Tell me a little about the creation of the band How is Khors born? What influences do they have (both musically and ideologically speaking) and what does the word Khors mean?

  • Khaoth - Khors was born as the band once Khorus, bass guitarist, quited Astrofaes, the band he dedicated more than 10 years of his life for. Khorus had many ideas back then, many “ready to play” songs, and since we've been friends for many years and colleagues on Astrofaes in some period of time, we teamed up for his new band. Helg later joined us on the position of guitarist/vocalist and then we started to build our debut full length. I remember we've been influenced with the bands like Hold, Tulus, Darkthrone and many others, and of course, Slavonic Paganism always been and remains our basic background. Khors is God of the Sun is Slavic mythology.

While Ukraine has had its political and social problems, has this affected the band in any way?

  • Khaoth -  Of course. If affected us very much in many aspects. We are very dependent on political events in our country. But never take it as a nagging.

Ukraine is also a hotbed of extreme metal bands. How is the relationship with the rest of the bands? Will you have a favorite band?

  • Khaoth -  Ukraine has a lot of bands. Relationships are quite different. For many years our favourite bands remain the same: Drudkh and Nokturnal Mortum.

In addition to bassist. What other role do you play within the band? Is there a project that you are working on and want to talk about?

  • Khaoth -  Khorus is very active on so called metal business for more than 20 years for now. Khorus runs his own label Ashen Dominion as well as Pestilent black metal band KZOHH, organizes Ashen Dominion festival in capital of Ukraine and do the main management in KHORS.

If you could describe Beyond the Bestial in just 3 words, what would they be?

  • Khaoth -  Heavy Metal Rock

So, for finishing. Is Mexico included in its tour plans? It would be great to see them live if you ask me.

  • Khaoth -  I would like to be fair with you. Not every country we haven't been in so far in our wish list. But it's not about Mexico. We would be happy to explore Mexico with live shows. Everybody's interested in having us over there – ring the bell ))

Thank you very much for this little interview, I'm really excited to have the privilege of having this little talk with you, I hope someday to meet them in person, for me it has been everything, if you like to add something else, this is your space.

  • Khaoth -  Thank you very much for your time, for your interesting questions. It's been pleasure to answer this. Thank you a lot to everybody spent your time for reading this. Horns up!
Gracias a Càtia Cunha por hacer posible esta entrevista.
